This series is an attempt to explore my past, particularly my early childhood and an homage to my family. In the process of creating this body of work, I managed to focus on those aspects of my family experience that had the deepest effect on me, like the influence of Catholicism and develop a visual language to effectively convey them to the viewer.

In attempting to express my history through the visual, I've chosen a combination of images both literal and symbolic. I've used old family photos as a starting point to represent the specifics of my experience and merged or juxtaposed them with primarily religious iconography of a more universal nature.

The result is a personal visual language employing distinct symbols that seek to address the dynamic relationship that exists between origin and present realities.
